Happy friendly staff, very welcoming. Great food and excellent location to where we were staying. We really enjoyed our time here. We were actually looking for Tanuki's Cave but stumbled next door, into Kura and were not disappointed. Sadly, a little early in the day for us to have some sake, (we had a long day planned) but was sorely tempted. Next time though! I will be back if I am ever in the area again.

A really good Japanese restaurant in Auckland. Environment is unique and atmosphere is special. Will recommend to my friends who are visiting Auckland.👍

We had a very nice meal last week at Kura, we chose a range of small dishes including the pictured Prawan Gyoza and Takowasabi (felt the octopus was just a way to get the wasabi flavour rather than adding to the dish), staff were so friendly and efficient I can't wait for our next visit

Kura is an absolute delight. We popped in for a quick dinner before a show at the Civic and were very impressed with both the quality of the food and the speed of service. Prices are also very reasonable. We'll be back for sure. Authentic Japanese.

This restaurant is an institution for good reason - but specifically for me - it’s ALL about the wasabi they use with the sushi - it’s fresh, fibrous and so flavoursome - I eat it on its own, it is that good.
I ask every time I have the pleasure of eating here when they will open in Wellington... please!

Great food!! I ordered the seafood lovers Donburi and it was fantastic, the salmon was delicious. There was a nice atomashphere with a fireplace and moody lighting. This place would be great for a date.
Note that the food can be slightly small if you're a big eater, but it was high quality so I didn't mind.
I highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Found this in place by accident! What a hidden jewel! Dood was wonderful and the atmosphere was genuine. Food was authentic and great care was put into the preparation big every dish! Highly recommend!!!!
