Just South Of The Border

Nicest US customs officer I’ve met! We are Canadian citizens with permanent residency in the US and we came back to the US after a vacation in The Maritime provinces. It was late-ish at night (10pm ADT/9pm EDT), but the officer was very friendly, willing to chat, and asked no irrelevant questions. It was my first time driving to the US since I’m a university student and my parents always did it for me beforehand. It was a pleasing experience and there was minimal stress :) I wish MDOT would make it more obvious that the speed limits in the US were in miles per hour, considering I live in the US and I was thrown off by the difference after almost two weeks in metric. But that probably has nothing to do with the customs.

I was very pleased with the information I was provided today about driving to Maine. The agent reassured me (am an American citizen) that everything I asked about was in order for driving to Maine to help my sister with her upcoming surgery. We drive to Maine often to visit her and Calais has been our go to border crossing for decades. We have consistently had positive experiences over this time. So proud to be an American!

Crossed on 10 July from Canada with my family for work. The US Customs agents we interacted with were respectful, professional, and efficient. Certainly one of my best interactions at a border crossing even with the current restrictions in place. (for those wondering, no COVID test was required to cross)
