El Coyote

I have been going to this restaurant for 30+ years. These days, the prices are just crazy. I know they are crazy everywhere, but EC is leading the way. 2 Chimmies, 2 mashed potatoes, and a drink will set you back $40.00 these days. Oh, you must try the mashed potatoes. They are known for them for a reason. The service on our last visit was great. The food was especially good as well. The $120.00 for my party of three hurt just a little bit less because it was a good experience. If it's been a while since you have been in to see them... They have expanded and upgraded the patio. It's very nice, covered, and has fans and heaters. If you like Tex Mex go check them out!

We had great food and service at our visit to El Coyote. We'd heard about it for a while from lots of different people, and finally made it on a late Sunday afternoon. We asked to be seated on the patio, which was open and quite pleasant. Our server Desirae was very sweet and efficient. She said she had not seen any bees yet, but left us a little device to help get rid of them if we saw them. So make a note if you want to eat on the patio at certain times of the year. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa, and ordered queso to go with. The salsa is pretty spicy. I liked it but my tablemate did not like it so fiery. The wedge salad had a disproportionate amount of dressing, almost more dressing than lettuce wedge. The glazed pork chop was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We chose onion straws, crisp and tasty, and southwest mac n cheese, creamy with regular pasta, as sides. We also ordered the sour cream enchilada with chicken, and southwest rice and refried beans. I love these beans. Thick whole pinto beans in a rich and thick gravy. Very, very good. We were too full to order dessert, but the entries looked tempting and appropriately decadent. The portions for everything were huge, and it seemed like we took home almost as much as we ate. They have Coke products and a full bar. Parking is on a hill so be mindful. El Coyote is great.
