Benavides Mexican Restaurant

This restaurant lives up to its name... "Buena Vista" as it overlooks the newly constructed part of I-30. It appears to be family owned and the service is fantastic. Our waiter was very friendly and they always make sure everything is okay. The place is well decorated and has a festive look to it. This is a great place for all occasions and to bring friends, coworkers, boss, family, and a dinner date. A group was celebrating a birthday while we were there. The food is delicious and well worth the price. I had the carne asada and ended up taking some of my meal home with me. I cannot believe this restaurant is not packed all the time; it was actually empty when we walked in.

I can’t believe I’ve never tried this restaurant! I pass it all the time on the highway and I guess just always assumed it was a bar (the martini glass in their sign is a bit misleading), although they do definitely have a full bar and margaritas. They are now open for brunch Sundays 10-3. The parking lot is well lit and the restaurant is spacious. Service was slow and the surrounding tables were not cleared in a timely manner. But the quality of the food and friendly staff made up for it. Also when I visited there was two very large groups celebrating a birthday so it might have just been they were extra busy on a Thursday evening. I shared some bean and cheese nachos with my friend and the salsa they give you is spicy and flavorful. Then I had a chicken taco but was not expecting the tortilla to be crispy and fried. The shredded chicken was on the salty side so I didn’t finish the taco or enchilada. Beans and rice were typical of a mexican restaurant, and when the bill came I thought the waitress forgot to charge us for something. But it was only $37 for two people and an appetizer so I’ll definitely be back!
