Castro's Tex-mex Grill

Was in town from Springfield doing some business and saw the cool ambiance of Tex-Mex! We stopped because we were starving and were welcomed immediately. By the reviews talking about the owner being young, we assumed the gentleman that came up owned it. He was very sweet and told us all about the events that went on around the restaurant. The server was wonderful as well. We actually stayed after dinner for a few drinks to watch football. The owner kept coming up and talking football with my boyfriend which made us feel like we were at one of our hometown comfortable spots. Food was very fast and good as well! Very happy with the result of this experience! We will be back just because of the sweet owner and service!

I was recently able to sample some of the food that will be offered at Castro’s and I was not disappointed!! The steak taco rates at the top of my all time favorites!! I can’t wait for the place to open. We also were also given a tour of the restaurant . I love the atmosphere . There is a beautiful bar, great seating, TVs on all the walls - something for everyone. The owner also plans to expand the roof area giving Decatur rooftop seating. Who wouldn’t love that? Decatur needs more dining opportunities. The owner and staff were all friendly, polite, and accommodating My recommendation is to go see it for yourself when it opens. Let’s support new businesses !

The arrogance and sheer vileness of this youthful owner has pitted an entire community against each other over his stupid reaction to an emoji! Let me say that again....an EMOJI! While these reviews should be focused on the food and service of this establishment, the community now finds itself waged in a public relations battle with the owner over his vile and vulgar comments to the community which he desires to serve, as well as the numerous veterans who fought and died, allowing him to make these same vile and vulgar comments. Simply put, this business should not be patronized until the owner steps down from management of its day to day operations, as he needs to learn some humility...even in 2019 (recognize real). Until then, I recommend that the community boycott this establishment.

WAND reports Macon County Health Dept placards were ripped off doors and windows of issued by the aforesaid county agency. The entire action was captured on video and the violation was reported to the county health department. The owner has been very non-cooperative about the current concerns. The business will still not be open for two more weeks. Police have been to this place 86 times. Closed again and liquor license revoked. All on 08/15/2020.

I was excited to have a new restaurant but I can't bring myself to patronize a business that I've seen the owner be nothing but arrogant & disrespectful to the very people that can make or break his business. I've seen several people comment that people need to "grow up" maybe the owner should have grown up before being given this opportunity then he would've known to control himself on social media.

The restaurant is not even open yet. The bad reviews are from a Facebook battle and most are irrelevant which you can see just reading them they are fake. The business opens March 31 2019. People make mistakes and I believe people these days are too immature to make rational decisions when they leave reviews. I have not been to the restaurant yet since it is not open. I will go because I support local business. Local business made this country. I'm also a man to forgive when someone makes a mistake, even a local restaurant owner.

There are a lot of nasty rumors and misunderstandings going around about this restaurant and its owner. Of course mistakes will be made in a 22 year old’s first business venture. I think everyone should give Castro the benefit of the doubt. Meet him before you judge his character. Try his (very delicious) food before you judge his restaurant.
