Friendly Gus Food Store

I've grew up in the area and returned after adventures in the world for school and for my husband's work and I've got to say that it's great to have a Friendly Gus around the corner again. If you're traveling up I16 in the morning it's a great place to stop for a quick breakfast that, while by no means a healthy one, is far better than a sad, impersonal sandwich from McD's. And the coffee, poured yourself from a pot, is always fresh and great. The Ladies there are always the highlight of my morning and the one gentleman I've seen working there always knows what's best that day in the hot deli👍.I think there is another gentleman who works there too, I've seen him only once but, I know he's not going to be anything other that top notch in customer service if he's got co-workers like these👌. I would recommend the raspberry scones that, while at first don't look like a proper scone, are definitely better than the ones I am accustomed to. Glazed and rather flat, two make a great sandwich to wedge some eggs and sausage patties, and/or bacon between (glazed side in unless you like licking your fingers clean 😉) and I swear I could hear my future dead self calling from beyond the grave in grief at no longer being able to experience this goodness. If you need some gritts in your life they have cheesey as well as plain (Dublin version of"plain" comes salty already) and, if you ask, they'll load up your bacon or eggs into the same container as your gritts to indulge, all mixed up by yourself, if you like for ease of driving while eating 😉, or just because, though there is a small seating area for taking a breather from your weary travels, or a break from work/school. Don't forget to grab a lotto ticket or a quick scratch off for a little fun during your visit! Bathrooms, are small but always CLEAN. Sister locations before and after the Dublin/McRae exit (new fancy one for truckers with a similar staff and food before). Locally owned and operated. Thanks for visiting my hometown ❤️!
