Eltham Woods Fish And Chips

First time visitor, thought we’d try the kebabs they always advertise on their signage. We ordered two and the female owner very aggressively asked us what sauce, to which we asked what the options were and were met with an exasperated face (the owner made no effort in hiding it) and aggressive shouting back at us saying any sauce was available. When I asked for sweet chilli it wasn’t available. The owner was repeatedly rude to us as we tried to politely ascertain what sauce options they even had available. As soon as we walked out we regretted supporting a small business with rude owners who don’t treat customers properly. The kebab was also dry, nothing special at all. As an Eltham local, I definitely won’t be back.

As of Easter 2019 I can safely say the current owners of Elthamwoods Fish & Chip Shop are on the job. The fish is excellent, so are the chips and the burgers too. This place has now trumped Burger Lounge back in town for our go to burger and chip place. I’ve had at least ten serves of fish over the last couple of months and they’re doing it right. The “Fish of the Day” has consistently been really good, Including flathead and whiting. The burgers are really good too. I keep turning up, especially with the kids, intending to get a Mexican Burger but now find myself taking the fish of the day option. If you’re looking at this review and thinking about what takeaway to get, give this place a try. The chip serves are massive too and tip top.
