Ballyhoo Grill

We traveled into town for a family member graduating from UF. The grad lunch was scheduled there for about 25 people. The service was great, the food came out quick, and the atmosphere was fun. I ordered the blackened mahi tacos with beans and rice. I also ordered a side salad as an app and a draft beer. The flavor in the tacos were fantastic! Also, the beans and rice were probably some of the best I’ve had! The side salad was large and it tasted like their ranch was homemade. The beer selection was decent. We will definitely be back when visiting family.

Food was ok except the Shrimp Scampi. That sucked. The sauce if you want to call it that gelled up and wiggled like jello after a few bites. The shrimp was far from fresh. Absolutely gross!! Out of a party of five none of the others dared to try it. The other items were ok. The Cuban had an abundant amount of mustard. Pretty much all one could taste was mustard. The Ballyhoo fries were pretty good as well as the Filet Mudiga. The kids enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Princess. The staff was great! Our waitress did an excellent job. Absolutely no complaints about the staff at all.

This was our first time dining here. It was a very busy Friday night but we were seated right away and even though it didn't seem like we waited long, our server still apologized for it. Phil was an excellent server. He refilled drinks so accurately and fast. The food was delicious! I had the burger with cheese and fried egg. So yummy. For such a busy night it was awesome to have good food and service! We will be back.

We had a birthday party for 4 people there, so we had 10 (or 11) adults and 5 kids. They were very accommodating (we did call as head (a week, then the day before and day of) to let them know we had a big party coming). Our server was awesome & I wish I could remember his name. He always had a smile, he remembered who ordered what. We had a wonderful time there and the food was awesome.

I don't know if we came on an off day but the food was not very good and it took quite a while to get our food. My husband ordered a red fish with grits and mashed potatoes. The first thing he said was those are not grits. Then as he was eating the fish you could completely tell the food was over cooked and the mashed potatoes were not good at all, very chunky and way to much garlic powder or whatever in it. I had crab legs, the vegetable of the day and French fries. The fries were banging, everything else.... not so much. The crab was over cooked I have never struggled to get whole pieces of crab out ever before. The vegetable of the day was good until I found something hard in it didn't investigate because my husband was ready to go. But the drinks were great, specifically the naked surfer it was so good. And the waitress was very nice and did a great job.

We celebrated my birthday here last night. It was our 3rd family birthday celebration here in recent months. I enjoyed the free birthday lobster, but with all the food and drinks, we also buy we still spend hundreds of dollars here and could easily have dined elsewhere for less. The food is great and the staff is friendly. We enjoy the atmosphere, the music outside, and last night the magician was great. What is not great, however, is the service. It has been lacking all three times with last night being the worst. It is very slow. We got our 3 appetizers, but had to wait about 10 minutes to get plates so we could enjoy them. To get another beer took a very long time. Like I said the staff is nice enough, but they are not very attentive...checking to see if your food is okay, etc. We will probably not visit again for some time, which is a shame because we do enjoy the atmosphere and food here very much.

I had the Shrimp Rockefeller is was very good, very decadent. I also had the steak & blue cheese flat bread. The balsamic vinaigrette is delicious and makes the whole dish. I would definitely get the flat bread again. Next time I hope I get to try one of their versions of the margarita....the watermelon one sounds yummy 😋
