Yummy House Gainesville

I was expecting something authentic Chinese taste or American Chinese from what I experienced in Asia and some Chinese restaurants. Food too much oil, we paid $140+ just to get disappointed ☹️. Can’t even taste much the white wine as advertised in its menu of the scallop and shrimp wine sauce, I can only taste the awful oil, and I think not a good kind of oil. Their Lo Mein is not that good. Staff are OK and hospitable, it’s the food that was so disappointing ☹️

Good customer service. Overpriced and average food. They label food as spicy on the menu; the waitress told me that they stopped making their dishes spicy due to many complaints. This was after we had received our food. Why not tell us that before? I would have ordered something different. I likely would have been more satisfied with it, and it would not cost the restaurant money. My mother and I both had short ribs; they were chewy and my mother could not even chew hers. The only reason why they are getting 3 stars is because our waitress was kind enough to refund 2 of our meals and most of the food was not inedible. This place definitely does not live up to the hype. Also, if you are ordering, get chicken. They managed to get that right.

Decided on a small family lunch get together at yummy house with dim sum and a few other plates. The service was very prompt but one word of caution is to come earlier than later for lunch since they do close the kitchen around 2:30. The dim sum variety wad plentiful and brought around on two different carts. Lots of temptations but be careful as some can be fairly pricey but they do provide a list with prices. All the items and plates we got the family enjoyed. The soup was very large and could feed a larger family as a starter by itself. The star for me as I have come multiple times to yummy house is the house fried rice with its variety of chicken, pork and shrimp and cilantro rice. I believe it to be the best fried rice in town.

Just finished lunch right before they closed for dinner service. Wait staff was patient and attentive, maybe a little pushy toward the end, but they wanted to close the check so they could start prepping for dinner. Quality of the food was better than average, but boy do they use some onions. I probably consumed a medium onion during my meal. The steak, shrimp and chicken were cooked well and not chewy as cheap cuts can be. Lacking in the overall flavor department though, so I'll call it average food for an average price!

Party of two, food plates arrived at different times. Appetizer came after the second dinner. Yummy chicken had very few mushrooms and no visible asparagus. Asked for a dish of sauteed vegetables. Was told no. Offered to pay any amount of money for small dish of sauteed asparagus or vegetables of any kind, told they could not do that. A hard No!!! Sauce to strong without something to break up the flavor. Paid for our meal, left and went across the street to a different restaurant where they where more than happy to accommodate us! Will not return nor would I recommend to anyone!
