This place has very good sushi at a very reasonable price. That is why I will not give then a one star review. Their delivery is consistantly 20-30 minute wait longer then they say it will take but if you call the restaurant they have always "left a while ago and will be there any minute." Last time I ordered they were over 30 minutes late when the delivery driver called me. I missed the call and called back maybe 5 minutes later and the delivery driver berrated me for not answering. Though I still ordered again because the price is reasonable and food is good. This time they took over 2:30 hours to deliver with no apologies. I would continue to order if they would rectify this but I doubt they will. If you can stand the wait then still order, but I know I can't anymore.

My friends and I have been going to Ashiya regularly for over 10 years now, and the experience and the quality of the food has been consistent since then.
Despite the low prices, you get fresh fish, generous bento boxes, and the best tempura you'll find for miles (within NJ, at least). Also, they make the best tempura ice cream ever had.
They have a strange period where they're closed between 3PM and 5PM during weekdays day (staff break or prepping, perhaps), but other than that, my friends and I keep coming back year after year.

I misheard the total when placing my order and heard 20.95 instead of 21.95. I proceeded to tip the standard percentage. The delivery guy then calls me back after he drops off my food and questions the amount I gave him. I explained it to him and asked if he would come back for more money. He then told me to pick up my food next time. I really don't know why he felt it was professional or acceptable to do that but I am NEVER ordering delivery here again. Ever. And I'm making sure to tell everyone I know about this so they order from the other sushi place nearby.

The sushi is certainly a low grade quality fish. Food is very bland and ehhh. For the price of the rolls the quality should be much better. Being as the place is right next to a fish market, you'd think they'd reel in some quality. Wouldn't be going there again. Oh and the service is super horrible. I had to walk up to my waiter twice to ask for something I needed when I sat down.

Almost all of the reviews on here are biased or B.S.
Sushi is worth the price, it's not a fancy place so you can dress however. Besides sushi, they have good food. I recommend getting garlic broccoli, cooked perfectly and tastes great. Just so ppl know! It's a new owner, the old owner got shut down from inspections. So all these old reviews shouldn't go towards them. For ppl that don't know what quality fish is, this is a great place for you to go for cheap.

I have never ordered from here before so it was my first time getting delivered. The delivery guy was rude when i didnt give him enough tip and told me next time pick it up. I ordered $30.00 worth of food by the way. The food was great but service sucks! Because of this guy I will not be ordering from here anymore.

Food here is good especially the Bento and Ramen. However, the waitress was very rude while we were asking details about some items on their menu and was very impatient to take our orders. It took her 30 minutes to serve our meals and that was the only time she apologized for the delay. There were only 2 groups inside the restaurant and we wondered why it took them that long to cook them. Giving it 3 stars only.

if i could give no stars i would, they open whenever they want...the idea of customer service is literally foreign to them. My company which has over 1000 employees and is about 2 blocks from the "restaurant" could not depend on this place, we threw out their menus in unison. they could care less about business, with that being said i do not know how they make money and if they do not make adequate money that means they will skimp on serving fresh food. all around the WORST restaurant/ordering experience i have ever had in all of jersey city.
