Sushi Wazen

Sushi Wazen delivers a satisfactorily above-average sushi experience, though it is hampered by its slower than average service. Firstly, I must commend the quality of their food. From the freshness of the sashimi to the deliciously prepared sushi rolls, every bite was enjoyable. The taste profiles were balanced, and the variety was appreciable. There's an authenticity to their cuisine that elevates it above the commonplace, making it a cut above your average sushi establishment. However, a significant detriment to the overall dining experience was the considerable wait time. During my visit, it took an excessive 35 minutes for my order to be served. For individuals looking for a swift lunch option, especially those on a tight schedule due to work, this could pose a serious inconvenience. While it is understandable that good food takes time, the delay seemed inordinate, which detracted from the otherwise pleasant experience. In conclusion, Sushi Wazen offers above-average sushi in a comfortable environment. However, their service speed could be significantly improved, particularly for customers looking for a quick lunch option. If you're not in a rush and can afford the wait, then you're in for a decent sushi experience, but be warned if you're on a strict timetable.

Mom and Pop spot. A bit of a hole in the wall. Always full of Japanese customers eating. Better sushi than at most places 3x the price. Nigiri and sashimi are straightforward. Rice is lightly seasoned and well temped. Never tried rolls or any hot items on the menu. I can vouch for the raw fish. Sometimes they run out of specific fish, but usually have the basics (bluefin, yellowtail, mackerel, salmon, octopus, shrimp, uni, crab etc) and often some additional (surf clam, flying fish roe, blue crab, horse mackerel, snapper varieties etc). Ambiance is understated mom and Pop that could use an update. Service is slow and leisurely. Usually it's just the sushi chef behind the bar. If the restaurant is packed you might be waiting 20+ mins between courses. Go when you have time. While not fancy, this is honest high-quality sushi prepared from someone highly trained. No BS and, to me, a benchmark on what quality food should look like. Very inexpensive for the quality. Excellent value.

I’m really surprised this place isn’t more crowded. We really love this place. The crispy yellowtail roll is SO GOOD! It’s a small lil place with no wait. I honestly wouldn’t mind if I had to wait awhile to sit down to eat. What we ordered: Crispy Yellowtail, hamachi kama, baked salmon roll, bento box, crunch roll, duck breast roll. Everything is very good! We come back as often as we can.

Wazen and the chef Nobu Son might be the best sushi I’ve ever had. He is such a nice man who is dedicated to his craft and doesn’t rush anything. That means everything is fresh and well put together with the right amount of every ingredient. On top of it, the prices are extremely good and it never gets super loud in there, which makes the experience all the more better. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys authentic sushi!

Authentic Japanese food with reasonable prices. Hamachi is always so fresh and delicious. My family has been coming here for decades. We love having a casual dining with excellent food. This is Mom and son run place. It warms our heart to see how they divide and conquer dishes. Come hungry but also be patient. There’s usually three people behind the kitchen, Nobel and mom doing the raw sushi and another guy doing cooked items. Dishes do take a bit of time but if you come with that expectation, you’ll have a good experience.
