My Neighbours The Dumplings

Really enjoyed the food at their Clapton branch, staff were lovely, the atmosphere was amazing. Place is much bigger than it looks from the outside, once you go downstairs, through several rooms and out the back. Was a really big fan of the potato and truffle sui gok. Really tasty. Unfortunately there seemed to be a bit of miscommunication about our order and there was a long wait for half of our food, think 45 minutes - though once this was recified, the manager immediate let us know he would make sure items were taken off the bill in apology. We would definitely go again. Really great place for vegetarians as well. The smacked cucumber was to die for.

This is the perfect spot for a laid-back lunch. Trestle table seating at the front and tick-the-box menu with sharing plates. The decoration inside is fun and different (kids clothes on washing lines!) and it feels like a pretty traditional and quaint environment. The food was really good but don’t expect overly typical dumpling fillings - had some delicious peanut ones but they are very peanutty :) Fast service and the staff were very helpful.

I've visited My Neighbours the Dumplings twice, and will certainly be going again. The first time we walked in. Whilst they were very busy they still managed to accommodate us. However I'd recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Incredibly friendly and efficient service. Over my two visits I managed to try almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious! The only dish I probably won't be having again is the chicken wings...but only because everything else is too good to miss! The specials mean there's something new to try on repeat visits. But the standard menu also has plenty of variety. Amazing cuisine, cosy restaurant, wonderful staff. Highly recommend!!

We had an absolutely great experience here tonight. My husband and I were the first reservation at 5pm and as such, seated promptly and also served immediately. We ate outside in the covered seating area; it’s dog-friendly which is awesome! Excellent server that allowed us to sample some saki. I had the steamed prawn dumplings (4 pieces), the silken tofu and the sesame needles. All were delicious! The dumplings were perfectly moist and filled with prawn “meat”; the tofu was a very good size, filling and covered with wonderful herbs and spices; whilst I thought the sesame needles were overpriced for the portion size, I still greatly enjoyed them. My husband had the pork pot stickers and meatball special. He said he enjoyed them as well and wasn’t overtly stuffed. We both got the Madame Butterfly cocktail and loved it: sweet and spicy 🌶️ Not very strong though. We would totally come back! Shame it’s so far from us!

If you like dim sum but feel the MSG in the traditional places can be a bit overwhelming, you might like this place. The food tastes fresh and lovingly made, and the decor is cute and well-chosen. I liked the fact that you can mark up the menu with your chosen options, which is a nice nod towards the dim sum restaurants that this establishment draws its inspiration from. The food tastes clean, tasty and is well-presented. I can't speak for how authentic it is - and will leave that to those with more experience of dim sum to say.
