Hatchetts Barnes

Recently Reopened, we thought we'd try this out for size last Saturday night as an alternative to the Local pubs on the river. It did not disappoint. The restaurant downstairs was busy but we headed straight upstairs to the Bar with balcony view of the river and the cracking Sunset. The Cocktails were very good, some nice twists on elegant classics and served in nice glassware, very important IMO. DJ perfectly matched the tone of the evening- Summer vibes. Could have been on a Greek island. We will definitely be returning. Would highly recommend for a sophisticated night out.

Been there several times. Friendly helpful folk, modern English food always good. I like that the menu is not just steak or fish with chips or vegetables. It's all about several healthy but tasty Dishes. The Sunday Lunch is fantastic, best in Barnes. If you are looking for good food with a twist I would recommend this restaurant.

Had a lovely lunch here today! Not a deep fry in sight as some have said. We had 4 Tapa's between us, all of which were excellent. Service was excellent. Couldn't fault it in any way. Yes the interior could do with a rethink and the manager agreed and is on the cards. My husband and I are a 1 min walk away and we were concerned about some of the reviews here and held back going. Glad we went!

Great spot, and very fun evening with decent food and wine to match. Excited that a new restaurant in Barnes is here for a relaxed placed to eat. Always going to have teething problems early on but glad there’s a manager and owner that listens as they want to be part of the community. Will certainly be back.

Genuinely surprised to see any negativity on the reviews. The venue has recently re-opened and the new owners may have needed a couple of weeks to settle in, however our experience was absolutely spot on. Our large group was easily accommodated, the venue is in an absolutely beautiful location and the food/small plates concept was excellent. Living locally, we've also heard great reviews from a couple of our friends who have recently visited. My suggestion is to give it a go, we have already planned our next visit this Sunday!

It was so refreshing to have a menu of a dozen small dishes - like tapas but not Spanish. We had 5 between us and they were all delicious. People pay a fortune for a tasting menu - this came to £15 each and we couldn't eat any more. Meat and 2 veg has served us well for centuries but it is time for an alternative. I just hope the Burghers of Barnes can adapt.
