Hobee's

A homely neighborhood cafe serving up hearty breakfast and lunch options. Portion sizes are good and the ambience is friendly. They have loads of options but recommend the coffee cake, the iced coffee (unlimited refills for regular coffee) and the French toast. The scrambled eggs were ok. Buttered toast was delicious. Affordable compared to other similar cafes in the area. Right next to the Caltrain so can get a bit loud if you’re eating outside.

Excellent brunch place, we have been going to the other location of Hobee’s but that one got closed so decided to come here to give it a try. The food is amazing and the service is great. The staff is really nice and they take good care of you with the useful suggestions. I definitely recommend this, they have great vegetarian options as well, a must try brunch place in my opinion!

Went on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Was seated quickly and order was taken rapidly. I had the eggs and bacon. Eggs were cooked as ordered and overall the breakfast was average. The blueberry coffee cake was phenomenal. I had asked for waters when seated but never got any until the end of the meal when the waitress left off the bill. The staff was overall friendly and professional.

Where to begin. After getting home with our take out breakfast, we noticed they had forgotten to include the 2 coffee cakes we had ordered, in addition to forgetting a side of bread. When I called back to explain the situation, the waitress/manager sounded extremely exasperated over the phone. I was not at all treated like I was a valued customer, over the phone or in person. When I went all the way back to Hobees to pick up the coffee cake and side of bread, I tried to explain a few more issues we noticed as we started to eat. My family and friends agreed the strawberry mimosas tasted like the strawberries had been fermenting for a while. The waitress/manager did not seem interested in solving my issues or hearing me out, so I did not even get to mention that a few of the blueberries in my pancakes still had stems on them (photo attached) or that the hash browns had no taste whatsoever. You would expect the ricotta blueberry pancakes to have a few scoops of ricotta here or there. Nope, just a very light drizzle over the top. As I was trying to explain some of the issues, the waitress/manager acted as If I was trying to rip them off. I kid you not, she said, "look, I already gave you two coffee cakes, even though you only ordered one." When she glanced at the receipt, she could see that we did actually order two, to which she then apologized. While she did end up comping us two mango mimosas we all felt the champagne had a very unpleasant taste and we ended up pouring out all 6 mimosas. I would give one star except for the nutella stack (pro tip, ask for the bacon on the side, it otherwise comes wedged in between the french toast and covered in chocolate) which was otherwise very tasty. Still a bit shocked by this experience. This was supposed to be a fun birthday breakfast for my friend, and instead we wished we had gone to ihop which would've been much cheaper and has much better tasting hashbrowns and pancakes. So so disappointing, especially for someone who likes to support small local businesses. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else (ihop lol or other places on Castro street).

Hasn't been there for like 3 years even though it's less than 10 minute walking from my home. This was mainly bc their menu. I felt it wasn't healthy. Hubby and I decided to go there just bc we didn't have anything else to lose and i realized they have changed their menu and added more healthier options. I was so excited and ordered a Teriyaki Bowl. It was amazing. I really loved it. I will for sure be back! And the outdoor dining is great, specially at this times. The tables are well separated and at least when we went, ir wasn't crowed. Plus, tooooons of parking spots! So, if you can just go!
