Tea Trails. Going by the name itself, it leads you to an image of a tea covered journey ahead of you waiting to be explored and so is the place. It does perfect justice to its name. This newest tea brewery in town, does indeed have a lot to offer. With tea leaves from all over the world, and a huge variety of food to serve, they are really trying their best to bring back the true tea culture of India.
The silver tea was a very smooth subtle tea with an extremely refreshing aroma. They made it in the traditional style and had the perfect apparatus for the tea brewing process. On their list they had a variety of teas, ranging from the blooming flower tea with a strong fragrance and a soothing taste to the lapsong sochung which was a strong and highly oxidizing one. Experiencing each one of them was a visual treat as well as a treat to the tongue. We had the perfect combination of a bun maska to accompany it as also a palmier to go with the tea.
The kulhad chai, or the traditional Indian man’s cup of tea was an extremely refreshing one too. Masaledar, kadak and the most aromatic tea in India, it was a great company to the onion pakodas it was served with. We got our tea facts right with the co-owner of this place, Mrs. Kavita Mathur who was kind enough to share her experiences about the different types of teas in the world.
The most refreshing one was the bubble tea. Traditionally, a Taiwanese tea, they made some modifications from the tapioca bobas to mango and lychee flavours to serve the taste of one and all. They had little balls of tea in the iced tea which burst in your mouth and give an extremely amazing feel to it. It definitely is one of the kind. It was quite a lovely drink which would definitely suit everyone's taste. Since this outlet is a bistro, they serve some kickass food too.
We were spoilt for choice when we had a look at the menu. Starting with a Traditional Burmese Tea Infused Salad, it had quite a crunch due to the peanuts and the dal in it. The veggies in it were infused with the green tea sauce which gave it a bitter sweet taste. They had an added on twist to the Classic Bruschetta too. It was the most filling bruschetta ever and was covered with veggies as well as a basil and green tea infused paste.
Their Cottage Cheese Platter too had a taste of the marinated cottage cheese where the marination was none other than of green tea. It might be a bit skeptical to imagine but the taste of green tea was such that it did not overpower any of the dishes. Next we had Smoked Cottage Cheese Sandwich. It was a bit sweet to taste and had a mixture of caramelized onions and cottage cheese wrapped in the bread. The taste was strong in this one. We had their Three Cheese Risotto with green tea as well. It was a star dish for us. The sauce with the risotto was olive and green tea infused and it made the taste subtle yet flavourful. It complimented the cheeses very well.
The Olive and Green Tea Hummus was extremely mouth-watering and the pita bread was so soft that it melted inside the mouth. The flavours of all dishes were very intact and subtle. They had some seasonal corn on the cobs and also the cheese corn tikki. They were very well balanced and had us all drooling over them. Next we flushed down the herbal tea to keep us refreshed with a strong mixture of hibiscus and chamomile, and this one was definitely a heaven for tea lovers.
After that we tried some of their desserts including the Black Forest Pastry, Red Velvet, the Mixed Fruit and the classic Dutch Truffle. All the desserts were true to their tastes and flavours as also they had their own traditional touches to them.
Over all it was a wonderful experience and also a great evening.
If you love tea, then please do visit and even if you don't love tea, you must, because they will definitely make you love it.
