Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant

Nice place to look at. Good food and attentive and professional staff. My fajita chimi in queso sauce was fire. Only complaint, the beans either had too much cummin or paprika or almost clove like taste. I could not eat them. Worth getting doubles on for sides... papa's con chili por favor. Everyone is in agreement these are amazing. N I mean Everyone.

Fantastic place! We really enjoyed our time and food at Abuelo's. We had such a good server, Brenton, and he was accommodating and attentive. The enchilada plate was great! They have this wonderful cheese sauce and it was great. The other dish was the shrimp fajitas - where the only negative of the evening was. Delicious in every way, but for some reason they serve the shrimp with their tails on! Other than that it was spot on! Absolutely recommended!

Great ambiance when you walk inside, vibrant colors and photos on the walls. The salsa trio is good, not spicy at all. Hubbs had a pork dish that looked more like steak medallions and the flavor was amazing. I had the shrimp fajita salad, unfortunately there was a wierd sauce on the shrimp, when spices would've sufficed. The taco salad was smothered in cheese and didn't look too appetizing, taste was ok. The food could've used more flavor with less cheese sauce or wierd sauces in general. Hibiscus rita was AMAZING, better than the el jefe! Staff was friendly with tentative wait staff and bussers.

Based on reviews I decided to check this place out. I wasn’t blown away by particularly anything, but it wasn’t a bad experience either. The atmosphere was pretty generic. Nice, but not really original or interesting. My server was polite, took my order, checked back once, delivered my check. Exactly what was expected of the position, nothing mind blowing. The food was pretty good, a little bland and not my favorite Mexican offering in the region, but if I was bringing my parents and/or family somewhere they seemed to have decent space so I might pick here. I was impressed as for the first time ordering at a Mexican restaurant they did cook the steak to temp, not over cooked at all. Enchiladas were good, but I wasn’t a fan of their version of red sauce. Not sure if it was chunks of meat or beans, but I hadn’t seen that in a red sauce before, especially on a cheese enchilada.

First time here, and I will be back. They have a weekday happy hour that is not to be slept on. Appetizers, beer and mixed drinks all discounted. We got a $5 queso and a $5 quacamole. They also bring you out 3 different salsas with chips to start. Many dinner entrees to choose from. The Grande platter is very large and perfect for two people to split! The rice was dry but the beans were good. I'm excited to try something else next visit.

Been here a couple of times and it’s very cozy and comfortable. The clientele seems to consist mostly of mature adults. The staff is always helpful especially Paul who’s normally at the bar. We usually sit on the bar side instead of getting a table. Happy hour is nice, we usually enjoy the classic margaritas on the rocks. The food is great! It’s always fresh and piping hot. We frequent this place when we get off early from work so it’s a nice visit for us. Will return soon I’m sure.
