Sumo Sushi & Grill

I honestly don't know what the haters are talking about. I've tried pretty much every Sushi place in the valley and this is by far the best. I've been coming here since it was Koi and had 50 rolls for 50 states. (They brought back Maryland by the way). Jocelyn has the memory of an elephant and will remember what you ordered to drink from MONTHS before. We didn't even wait long, but we had complimentary potstickers for accommodation. The chef threw in pomegranate soju just because. And best believe they have the best Kpop videos on rotation 24/7. The cuisine is technically Japanese, but the restaurant has such a chill Korean vibe to it. All I'm saying is, if they EVER bring out the Kimbap? It's curtains for every other restaurant. I would LOVE for them to introduce new Korean dishes like dolbokki, japchae, jjajamyeun, etc. But y'all ain't ready for that. Next time, I'm sitting at the bar and shooting the breeze with the chef because he is ALWAYS ON POINT. Seriously, the food is PHENOMENAL. My tip is always 20% or above because the service is unlike any other.

My husband and I came here for dinner before our movie and were helped by Jocelyn. She was impressively knowledgeable about the menu and a fantastic server. Our drinks were out immediately after ordering, our sushi came out promptly and perfectly fresh. We will definitely be back and absolutely request to have her as our server.

This place is actually called Sumo. We went for Friday happy hour, which was a good selection and full size rolls. The prices seem reasonable for a quality sushi place (we have paid more for worse food), and they have a large selection of specialty rolls. Everything we tried was very good, and fresh. You have to try the item at the end of the menu. I think it was called the "Happy?". It was the most expensive roll on the menu (at $15), but the combination of flavors was incredible. It seems like a lot of sushi places like you to order all your rolls at the same time However we like to do sushi one roll at a time, and take our time, and they were very accommodating. The liquor choices where not at a bar level, but what they list all seem to be call brands (vs. bar brands). My only real "complaint" is they do not have a wine selection. They basically have a house red (a cab) and a house white (chardonnay). My only real "complaint" is that it would be nice to have a nice bottle of wine to pair with the food.

Love the server. Love the food. Great cooks. Honestly I didnt even like sushi until I came here. ive taking so many friends to this place and most of them have not even had sushi but they all seem to love it. I been going to this place for a year or more and I have nothing bad to say about this sushi grill. If you want unexpensive quality sushi, go to the sushi grill. Thats my review! (:
