Cancun Mexican Grill

As a Texan who moved to Virginia, we were very sad by the representation of Mexican food in Roanoke. However Cancun has been our first and only haven! We have been there three times for lunch since discovering it 10 days ago and will be back again again and again. Thank you Cancun Mexican Restaurant for being our hookup!

I go downtown twice a week for business & I love this Cancun place. A great new addition downtown. My mom works downtown and sometimes meets me here for lunch. Their lunch buffet here is dirt cheap and everything is great. I also love Cancun's beef soft shell tacos. My mom has said she thinks this is the best Mexican place in all of Roanoke and surrounding areas. I agree. The staff are also very nice and attentive, and treat customers like family.

Excellent service and Mexican food. It’s convenient because it’s downtown where I work. I love their chicken fajitas here at Cancun. Their buffet is also very good and it’s cheap. Just one thing. I generally stop in here and eat alone because I’m on my lunch breaks and sometimes when I eat here my boyfriend is out of town because he travels for his work. The last time I came, I was sitting enjoying the buffet alone and the waiter walked over and asked “hey, do you have a boyfriend”? I said “yes” and the waiter asked “are you sure?” Then he said “you’re always alone”. I was actually pretty embarrassed and felt quite uncomfortable being asked if I was sure I had a boyfriend. That’s actually a very rude thing to ask if I’m sure I have a boyfriend. Of course I am sure I have a boyfriend, why would I tell a lie about that? We have been together for 5 years! Maybe I’ll bring him next time I stop in to prove his existence. I hope Cancun doesn’t doubt other customers and ask them such questions because if they do, it will start to hurt their business. It’s rude.

This was the first time I had eaten at the Cancun downtown. I have eaten at the Westlake location many times and always had terrific food and service. Although the service at this downtown location was fine, the food did not seem to be as good as their other location. I had read other reviews that said this restaurant was not that good, but I thought I would give them a try, since I was downtown already and it was super convenient. The food was ok, just not as good as the other restaurant. I may give them another try and try a different dish the next time.
