Column Stage Brasserie

Horrible service, overly expensive food, beautiful interior. We had some of the worst service ever at this place. The waiter brought me the wrong wine and took 45 minutes to get the right one. He brought our cheese plate, but no bread, and salads with no dressing. When he finally returned to check on us, it had been 20 minutes. And then it took him another 25 to get these simple things. I had to go complain to other staff to get our food. And the $18 salad consisted of some mixed greens, feta, smoked salmon, cucumber and CANNED OLIVES. This is not French food. I have been to France, and no one would serve this. It's terribly overpriced, though the interior is lovely, and it's a great place to see a performance. If we go back, we'll get dinner elsewhere and stick to beer while here.

Great music - Seldom Scene. But the food service was abominable (& I don’t use that word often). We ordered before 7:30pm, as suggested, before the show began. Our food (mostly salads) had not arrived 1.5hrs later. Wait staff was apologetic, but not really doing anything to make up for it. We -a table of 7- ended up canceling our orders. Shame - cuz it could be a really nice place. They just don’t have it together. Also, you have to pay more to sit in the dinner seats. Needless to say, don’t bother.

What a marvelous experience!! Column Stage is much much more than a space or a restaurant. My wife and I have followed Seldom Scene (a Grammy-nominated bluegrass band with a five-decade-long history) since the early 90's and we live in Atlanta, GA. Having seen them numerous times in and along the East Coast, we chose to make the trek to VA to see them again in August 2018. Our six hour drive to Roanoke to visit Column Stage was rewarded by an incredible night of music + magnificent service + delicious French cuisine. We travel internationally every year and have had the good fortune to visit 25 countries. With that as a point of reference, the new Column Stage space is top-notch IN EVERY regard. I'm told that CS can accommodate over 400 audience members but this unique venue/brasserie affords an incredibly intimate proximity to the band combined with scrumptious food. Please believe me, when I say: we'd travel twelve hours again in a heartbeat (and incur the expense of hotel, gas + logistical hassle leaving behind five children) to experience another unforgettable night at Column Stage in the future - unless of course you choose to open a location in Atlanta! Très magnifique.

A wonderful environment, attentive staff, unique menu. A much needed addition to Roanoke, where unhealthy food is the norm. The wine selection and the Fromage platter is like nothing found in our great city of Roanoke. The Old World wine and Fromage selections are genuine products of France. I definitely recommend....bonne journee
