Oak St. Pie Co.

This was a really cute little pie shop which we came across while passing through the beautiful town of Roanoke. All their pies were freshly made and even though most of them were sold out in the morning due to the father’s day weekend, we felt the ones we picked up were the best ones. We got banana and coconut cream pies. And both were really delicious. Not overly sweet which i loved, and the crust was buttery and melted in our mouths. What made this magical though was the custard filling in both the pies which were to die for.

They need to give me a shock collar and put up a barrier at the door! What a wonderful little desert shop. Their selection of pies and homemade fudge is impressive for such a little place. There are literally 2 tables each with 3 chairs inside. I guess most people get theirs to go. After getting a mostly full belly at one of the great places to eat on Oak St. in Roanoke, drop in on this little jewel and order up your own little piece of heaven. I am a huge fan for pecan pie. Who am I kidding? It's my favorite pie. And it is so easy for it to go terribly wrong. I had the GREAT pleasure of ordering a slice of their pecan pie and was thoroughly pleased! Great crunch from the pecan top, good color (haven't we all seen gray filling in a pecan pie?) filling that was perfectly sweet and properly thick. The crust was light and delicious. Though there is no pie that can rise to the royal level of the pecan pie, I also got to try their banana cream pie. Very good! The top and filling stood well without being too stiff or over "gelatinous". Perfect balance of flavors here. I also, out of morbid curiosity order a single piece of their pistachio fudge. This green block of goodness was a treat both in the palate and on the eyes. Swwwwweeet! One piece is enough sweetness for 4 people. I could only eat half, but this is a compliment to the fudge, not a negative. The pistachio flavor was a mouth filling experience with great flavor and texture. I just think it may have literally hurt my sweet tooth! Great job! This is certainly a place to go and get some great pie after SAVING some room for desert, and just not ordering it at the restaurant. Get a piece and eat there, get it to go, and IF it makes it to the house, you are truly in for a treat!

This place is like a hidden gem in Dallas/Fort Worth! Their pies are the best I've ever had (short of Grandma's, you know how that is). You can drop in and pick up a slice or whole pie, or you can order ahead. Every single pie they make is good but our favorites are: 1. Key lime! Seriously mind-blowing. Tart and sweet at the same time, and the buttery graham cracker crust is perfect. 2. Pecan - just like Mom's! Gooey and sweet. 3. Blueberry - like a blueberry cobbler but better. 4. Pumpkin - Just the right level of spices. Whenever we are in Roanoke we'll stop in for a slice - guaranteed it's better than dessert at a restaurant! We always get pies for Thanksgiving and usually for Christmas, but contact them early because the secret is out! You won't regret it.

Impulse buy when picking up order at Babe's next door. Never been to Roanoke. I'm a pie crazed expert. Although I can't rationalize a pie costing $30, I bought a cherry pie anyway. All I can say is that it was perfection. As my wife is a excellent pie maker, she agreed. First, you master the science of a perfect crust, then you get just the right tartness vs. sweetness of the filling. This pie had it down perfectly. Anytime I am remotely near this place I will pick another one up.

What a cute nice little pie and fudge place. Everything is made from scratch. And everyone in the shop are so nice to talk to and ready to help in case we have questions. Hubby ordered bread pudding to go. Yelp checkin gets you a cookie and as they didn’t have 1 cookie so they gave us 2. Bread pudding is bomb! We will go again and again.
