Flying Saucer

Took a spontaneous night road trip to San Antonio for some good grub and brews. I used to visit Flying Saucer Houston when I lived there and San Antonio's location has blew me out of the water with how fresh and fried to perfection their wings are. Got them tossed in a mix of Garlic Parm & Buffalo. When I tell you I was soring in flavor land and the juiciness of the chicken wings, I'm not even lying. 100/10 would recommend this flavor combo & location for the best wings. Beer was great too but DAMN THEM WINGS. Couldn't even get a before picture because I couldn't stop myself from devouring them.

We always enjoy our visits here and love going with friends. There have been a few missteps in the past, such as when I ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza and it came out with no arugula only to find out that they didn't have any. Wish they would have told me that when I ordered it.. or came out to ask me if I wanted something else when they realized. Servers sometimes need to be flagged down for refills, checks, etc. But we keep coming back because we like the vibe and the drink selection is great. We appreciate that they have non-alcoholic beers to choose from as well. Overall I'd say it's a great spot. If you're one of those people that must have four star service every time they go somewhere, maybe try somewhere else. It's a pub vibe.

Best place in town to grab a cold one after a long day. The waiters and waitresses are extremely knowledgeable about their beers and are extremely friendly. Start your membership if you go and try out some new brews each week as their stock is constantly rotating. Overall, it is just a cool place to hang out.

Really like this place but we don't get over to this part of town since Dad passed away. Great selection of beer and there is always a special of the day, which is the draft beer likely closest to expiration. I always get it as it's still good and less expensive. The food is great and the daily special is always very special and recommended. Some of our old favorites have been removed. The patio is nice and you can also bring your favorite well behaved dog. Of course it's way too hot this summer to scorch yourself outside. Ugh. The service is always good. The management must be good since every staff person always seems happy and helpful, even the ones who are not serving you directly.

We really went here for the beer and to be honest, we figured we’d get a mediocre meal but still enjoy ourselves. For this reason, I ordered a Rueben. It’s my fallback because I’ve had great ones and I’ve had terrible ones, but even the bad ones I can eat without too much disappointment. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The sandwich, as well as the food my wife ordered and my daughter ordered was all definitely above average. Listen, it’s not gourmet-5-Star-cloth-napkin dining, but it’s definitely not what I was expecting from a pizza place so we’ll known for their beer taps. Speaking of beer: if you’re into IPAs, you gotta try the Crash Pad DIPA if they have it on tap when you visit. The head is thick and relentlessly foamy but it rises ABOVE the glass leaving plenty of room for your full beer. Don’t wait for the foam to dissipate because it won’t! It’s like a wispy, beer flavored meringue.

Everyone was happy with our first visit here. The soft pretzel was the best! Perfect spicy mustard or cheese sauce to dip it in. We also had the Saucer burger and fries, the picnic platter and the kids had a cheese pizza. I've never had a purple cheese (from the picnic platter), but it was delicious! It was really busy as Tuesday is trivia night, but our waitress was great and kept up with everything. Sat out on the patio and with the fans blowing hard, it wasn't unpleasant. We will definitely go back. Side note: I ate a few fries before taking the picture lol
