While the food was indeed fairly tasty, it certainly misses the "was it worth it?" mark. Two of us had two bowls of don buri, a dish of baked mushrooms, some tempura maki and two pieces of wagyu sushi. The rice on the don buri bowls was a little hard, but the seafood was fresh and tasty. The mushrooms had a bitter tang that prevented us from eating more than a third of it. The tempura maki rolls were tasty, but some might consider the batter too crunchy. The wagyu sushi was very tasty, but at $15 each, it was too expensive. With two non-alcoholic drinks, the bill came up to almost $140, which was too much given the less-than-stellar quality.

It's not a cheap Japanese restaurant if you're judging it by the serving size. I would recommend their Truffle Gyu Don. They do yu sheng too however it's not the traditional type. Their yu sheng - julienned carrot, radish, raw salmon, halibut, ikura and tempura bits to replace the crackers. This recipe presents something new and refreshing. We like it a lot♡

Off the beaten path in Tras street you will find this uniquely decorated Japanese restaurant. Don & Tori has been on my list of go-to places since it opened its doors. Being a big fan of sushi and sashimi in general I am always inclined to a restaurant that offers this selection and boasts an Omakase menu. I was not able to try the Omakase this time as I was intrigued by the selection of options offered in the menu. We started off with - Kajiki and Toro Sashimi - Spicy Edamame - Nasu Dengaku All of these were spectacular. I absolutely loved the tuna sashimi, it was creamy and just melted in your mouth. At a price of $85 for 5 pieces, it was worth it. The eggplant and edamame were seasoned and cooked very well. Our next course included - Truffle Ebi Roll - Tebasaki - Don’s Okonomiyaki The roll was delicious. The tebasaki (chicken wing) was smoked and carried that delicious Japanese yakitori flavour. The Dons okonimyaki was the star. This fusion dish boasts scallop and prawn with cheese on a flat bread pizza. Seasoned with the famous okonomiyaki sauce and katsuo. All in all. Will def be back to try more of their dishes and their Omakase. Highly recommended.

Great food! The truffle salmon carpaccio was a fantastic starter. Chirashi don and garlic fried rice also did not disappoint. Place was cozy and staff were attentive.

Tucked in a shophouse on Tras Street, Don & Tori is very homely and cosy the moment you enter. Their service staff are very kind and professional. We has a chirashi and a wagyu beef truffle don which was very tasty! Just note that portion sizes are small for the price you are paying so just manage your expectations that you will not leave full. Don’t think we’ll be back so soon.

Hands down the only place I’d come back 3x for their beef bowl. Price justifies portion and not overly powering with sauce like what some places do but just right with awesome truffle, foie gras, onsen egg and garlic chips.

At first glance this feels like a high end japanese Restaurant. The setting is nice and spacious with the choice of booths, tables or bar dining. I came here for a lunch and although he sushi and sashimi dishes are a little at the high end, you can see this is the kind of place with high quality ingredients. But having said that, there was also very affordable options for lunch. I tried the chicken teriyaki don and I have to say it was excellent at only twelve dollars. The chicken meat was good quality and the serving was a good portion. It was also cooked very well and not too oily or over done with teriyaki sauce. The rice was light and fluffy and it was topped with a runny egg. Overall it was delicious and very good value for money. There was a lot more pricier items on the menu and they look like they’re worth trying if you fee like splashing out for lunch or dinner. A place I would recommend for those looking for a high quality don or tori for that matter.
