Bake Cheese Tart

The first cheese tart of its kind to come to Singapore. So it's commonly regarded as the "original", but they have quite a number of competitors now. They also have a second outlet at West Gate Shopping Mall. Was there today at lunch time, no queue whatsoever. Edited 24 Aug 2019, Westgate outlet has closed. ION Orchard outlet never has a queue. they do have a new flavour, Lemon Cheese Tart.

Love these pillowy-centered cheese tarts. Buttery cookie case topped with a light cheese filling and baked till the top is golden ...sometimes a little caramelized too. Just yums!! Used to see crazy ques, but that has passed so you can easily walk up to the counter to pick up a box or two. So much better than Pablo, Tokyo Secret or Hokkaido Cheese tarts. Ps: do sign up on their Club Bake app to enjoy membership specials & collect points for your purchases.

Don't get me wrong. This is a really good cheese tart. The baked tart is perfectly crunchy. The cream cheese oozes with every bite. The top of the cheese is ever so slightly charred. But the queues often stretch across the food hall, and it's simply not worth queueing all the time building up your hunger and expectations. Just don't miss your chance if you find the queue is less than 5-10 minutes. Definitely worth it then.

I would commit murder for one of these heavenly tarts. Having tasted a whole range of cheese tarts from Pablo to KFC (which was surprisingly decent), Bake trumps its rivals by a large margin. The buttery crust is firm and manages to hold together throughout the plate-to-mouth journey. Cheese filling is the right balance of sweet & savory, which produces the most divine flavor burst in one's mouth. Breaks my heart to drop $3.50 on just ONE tart, but sometimes this indulgence is necessary! Protip: if you're getting it to-go, microwave for 3 minutes to get the cheese filling gooey again!

Went to the outlet at Jurong and the queue was shorter there. Expensive cheese tart and I would say go try if you are really a big fan of cheese. Didn't really like it when it was warm, but I find the texture and taste better when eating cold. Also saw 2 outlets in bangkok and there was literally no queue (long queue at Pablo instead)
