One of the best places around the Marina area to have your cravings for Singapore local delights satisfied. You can find almost all the famous Singaporean dishes here at the basement of The Shoppes - Chicken Rice, Chendol, Hokkien Mee/Carrot Cake/Char Kuay Teow, Nasi Briyani, BBQ Satay and Chicken Wings, Wanton/Fishball Noodles and many more. Definitely catered for the multi-cultural demographics and varying taste buds. This area is almost always fully packed, even during non-peak hours although the seating capacity is considered large so finding a table to dine-in might be challenging. Well, if you have a room at MBS, takeaway option ain't too bad. Or you can enjoy the scenery while munching on a bench along the MBS Boardwalk. Prices are definitely on the higher side. No surprises. On average, a meal will cost up to $8-9. Chicken Rice is about $8.90 a set for context. But still the cheaper (if not cheapest) option within the entire mall. Would highly recommend the Chicken Rice, Satay/BBQ Wings, Ice Kachang, Hokkien Mee, and Bak Kut Teh within this establishment. If you are up for other local delights in Singapore, Newton Food Centre, Chomp Chomp, Maxwell Food Centre, Jumbo Seafood, Chinatown Market are probably the other amazing options.

Good foods surrounding Rasapura that deserve a higher price point. Went there before 12pm, the tables are all full, manage to secure one table for 4 near the corner looking directly at Digital Light Curtain at magnificent view. As we are ordering, the crowd gradually increased. Typical waiting time is between 8mins to 15mins, don't go there empty stomach. The premium coffee certainly worth a try as well as the R&B bubble tea, yummy. Caught up with friends with carrot cakes, fried vege, BBQ wings, Satay and roasted 3 combo, a good place and ambient with good food. Surprising it wasn't that noisy as I reckon.

To all, This Shop is not honest. My niece and I order meals just now. However, when we enjoy the food and we found the meal ingredients are not with the same size and amount what we order significantly. We don't mind you have a premium charge but we care you are not honest. I hope the relevant department investigates about it. Regards, Eng Tian Cheng

Finally, I had to eat here after many many previous half-hearted attempts over the years. Of course I've read all those brickbats on the food, prices and service. But no one said anything about the difficulty in getting a seat. Yes, previous visits with family (3 of us) always ended up walking out in exasperation. This time I was alone and early (11.30am). So I can really check out the stalls and the food on the tables of patrons. Ended up the safest bet in Singapore. Chicken rice. Paid S$9.10 for passable version - about double of the noisy, smelly and humid coffee shops. But hey, I said "passable" okay. To be fair, the stall operators are probably business people and we should moderate our expectations. Want the real McCoy's go the real local places. The last time we were here (two weeks ago) we ended up paying $130 at TWG and had to queue for 35 minutes. So, think about it. Update 25 June 2022: with Covid-19 measures mostly lifted, it was once again free-for-all tables "choping" (reserving a table by placing anything from tissue papers to water bottles before venturing to order food). Hmmmph. Navigating the chope-queue-order-wait-eat routine was the easy part, finishing your meal with exasperated chopers standing behind you was, well, infuriating. The $7.50 plate of char kway teow (Singapore's version of yellow noodles fried in sweet black sauce and cockles) was comparable to the $$3.50 version elsewhere, the experience was spoilt by impatient table chopers hailing from a North Asian country.

Tried the new Haoju Pao Fan stall’s Laksa Pao Fan with fried fish and added a side of chicken chop for $1. Big portion with la la and loads of tao pok. Quite shiok. The normal Pao Fan was so-so. I prefer their Laksa version. The carrot cake was so-so. White ok. Black not so ok. The Nonya Kitchen is consistent though. Decent rendang chicken with blue pea nasi lemak, otak and pretty good sambal to go with. The Thai Cuisine stall makes very good authentic Tom Yum Fried Bee Hoon. Shiok.
