Hoshino Coffee

I love the bakes here! Not so much the cakes which I find too pricey for such a small slice, but their other tarts and bakes are delicious!! My usual order would be their strawberry tart and apple crumble. The lemon lust is good too though could be a little sweet. The small pantry staples such as their mixed seeds is also delicious! Good crunch. Service at this branch is fast and efficient and may be a little curt at times, but understandable since the flow of traffic is crazy during peak hours. The place to order and wait is also very tight. And the poor staff don’t have a proper place to have their meals but have to sit cramped beside the baking shelves. The packaging has also changed, seen the staff struggling to pack the cakes and bakes, and I too struggled to open it when I reached home. Hope something can be done, the previous packaging was way easier!!

food is good as it is in every Cedele, healthy and tasty. The staff could be more well prepared, they have a lot to do because the place is always packed, but we notice that the tables could be cleaned faster and they could be more careful handing cutlery/napkins - they forgot ours and when we asked they got a bit defensive (?). Other than that, it is a fine place for a coffee and nice lunch during a busy day of work.

Friend I was meeting for lunch said, “I’m eating clean today.” So off we went to cedele. First of all: overpriced bowls?! $12 for some basic veg and unidentifiable meat. I chose a romaine lettuce base and got exactly *4* leaves of chopped up romaine pieces. That wasn’t the piece de resistance though. The star of the dish was what was supposed to be yuzu salmon flakes. Look at the pic: you’ll see a portion of the dish that looks like regurgitated cat food, and that was what i imagine cat vomit would taste like too. Revolting. I know cats who would sniff at it and walk away. I won’t even start on the service. - stingy with condiments. - horrifically understaffed; flurried by the lunch crowd - asked for an extra fork and got a defensive “but you already have a fork what”. So? $12 only gets me the use of one fork? For forks sake. K rant over. Cedele, please up your game. Food fail, service fail. Repurposing expired cat food from cold storage next door is not acceptable.

This review is for the Raffles City outlet of Cedele ONLY. I love Cedele otherwise and swear by their offerings. The reason I'm giving this outlet a 2 star is because the slice of the cakes here (I took Real Dark Chocolate cake and Red Velvet cake) are a joke compared to other outlets of Cedele. The size of the cake slices here were clearly much smaller than the outlet I usually buy from. And although I am not sure about this, but my friend insisted that the price was also more by a dollar or so. What is surprising is, there would be so much discrepancy in different outlets of the same company.
