Chef Icon

Came here to get breakfast. Expensive little cafe that is vegeterian and halal friendly. The portion looks small but i foudn the ham and cheese croissant pleasantly filling. $8 for the croissant. It was soft and buttery. Will definitely come back again to try the desserts and other breakfast items. Just not so often as wallet cannot take it 😁

I had a plane tiramisu and long black. Long black tasted like water. It tasted like a dark water that comes out when I use cleaning mode for the capsule coffee machines. For Tiramisu they said it's French style rather than Italian. They said its very special and different with the other shops but it was not good or special. Also, there is no restroom. When I've asked if there is any restroom I can use, they simply said "don't have". I understand the shop has limited space and not allow customer to use or share staff restroom, but the coffee and tiramisu were so bad that make me write this review. Especially the long black, it makes me wonder if they know how to use a coffee machine. I hope their other stuffs are good, but I won't go back if such a simple things are so disappointing.

Chef Icon is undeniably the finest we have… without contest a clear winner! I chanced upon the cafe as I cycled through the heavy downpour & noticed the iconic cafe’s ambience and its facade which was truly inviting. I major in patisserie decades ago & I could just sense as I walked in & glanced at their menu! Superb! I nabbed the frozen butter croissants, Pain au chocolat, selection of baguette as well as some used baking containers which was up grabs for just $2! I was not the least surprise as I placed the croissants in the oven for breakfast this morning & its such a delight for us to enjoy the finest selection of bread, just like those we had in France! Chef, you are an Icon indeed! Michelin grade quality! Two thumbs UP!

Our first trip, we were rather disappointed as the menu is different from what we found on google. Only 2 tea options. What happened to the usual earl grey & English breakfast etc? We ordered 2 cups of hot ginger lemon & paradis snow dessert. No other cake options other than whole cakes. Bill came up to abt $25. V pricey. Service was prompt & polite. Hope to see more cake n tea options the nxt round & bigger portions. Paradis snow is yummy but portion at $9+ is way too small. Place is small, clean & comfortable. Lack of a toilet is a bit of setback for a cafe.

I have been patronising Chef Icon a few times. I must say that as a vegetarian, the sandwiches served here are one of the best in town! Really like the croissants, burgers and sandwich bread served with local flavours esp sambal with ham :) Coffee is not too bad. My personal favourite is their oat latte. The enzyme drinks were refreshing. You would also enjoy the ambience in the cafe, environment is very zen-like and also it is usually quiet early in the morning. Frontline staff is friendly. Will always make it s point to come here whenever I am around in the Kg Vary/Bkt Merah area.

Their burgers, pizzas, tarts (which is only available in certain seasons), cakes, bread, croissant are all extremely delicious and fresh!!!! My go to place for any of the above items especially cakes n tarts ❤️ boss is also extremely friendly and chatty. Images are photos of North American pizza (even after cold alr n takeaway still v yummy, can imagine dining there when it’s hot 🥴) and sambal cheese burger. Yums.
