Canton Paradise

Very impressed at the food quality for a chain establishment. The restaurant serves great quality chinese food that anyone would appreciate at reasonable prices. The duck and roast pork was done really well, and lean cuts were used. The deep fried tofu was also fried to perfection, the skin being crisp yet thin. Also; the shrimp roe noodles were flavourful without being salty, serving as a accompaniment for the rest of the dishes ordered.

Solid yum cha option for the area but this experience was somewhat overshadowed by the table next to ours watching two different tv shows on their phones without headphones, as if the volumes on each were competing to be heard. I don't hold the restaurant responsible for the actions of customers but it was disappointing that no staff told them to be more respectful. When I complained to management they did go over and appeared to have a word, but it shouldn't have been necessary. I'd have thought the wait staff who were bringing food to them should have told them to turn off anything that disrupts others. That being said, the food was decent and at a reasonable price for dim sum. I'll give the place another try.

Choice of dim sum and choice of noodles, Hong Kong style roast, classic wok dish & dessert. Liked the fried mango and lychee. A bit oily but taste good. The beef brisket dry noodle is yummy. Fried egg plant was good but it will be great if cut the egg plant thicker. The dish is oily, but I like the pork floss. The three roasts, roasted pork meat not very impressed, the skin is not crispy and thick enough. The X.O carrot cake not bad.

The food generally is great. We especially like the roast fatty duck from Ireland. But other dishes are great too: the pork ball congee which is really soft type, toufu with vegetables and mushrooms, Ee Fu Noodles, etc. the wanton noodles we ate the last time was also great. There are a lot of different promotions so it can get a little confusing. But if you check them out, you can save a few dollars. The drinks are just average. The service is professional but not that warm. They explained the promotions in a hurry and you have to figure out what they are trying to say.

Service is friendly & attentive - food is as good as we remember. Well worth the price and brings me back to some familiar tastes of classic HK dim sum. They do charge for water (hot or cold) at 30 cents a cup - so do take note if you assumed it was free. Missing a good cup of 菊普茶 - they only had regular 普洱 which wasn’t bad but leaves me not completely satiated.
