Ordered the beef rendang set and the assam fish set. Price point is on the high side. Variety of dishes on the set is good. Flavours of the Nonya dishes is slightly above average. Chendol is so-so. If you are looking for a quick fix of Nonya food and in the area, this is it. Keep the expectations to yourself.

Reasonably priced authentic Peranakan set lunch. Around $18 you get a main (6 to choose from - had the Chicken Buah Keluak and Rendang Beef), two sides (4 to choose from - had the jinjalok omelette, Nyonya tahu and sayur masak lemak) dessert (3 to choose from - had the chendol and Budor Chacha both had to add $1 additional) and a drink (3 to choose from - barley, lime juice or mineral water). The ala carte menu looks good too so will be back to try the other dishes.

All dishes were tasty and wholesome like homecooked food. However, the portions were rather small. The desserts were only half filled in bowls that were already tiny to begin with. The chendol and barley were diluted and bland. If the quantity and quality can be up a notch or two, then the set meals will be truly value for money. Also, contactless payment options were limited (No PayWave and PayNow).

I believe the food should taste better because the flavours were on point. But I cannot get over the fact that the udang was so dry (my dad said the texture was like hae bee). I really couldn’t chew through it and shudder to imagine how many days the prawns were swimming in the gravy going on reheat for (yikes!). The gravy was very flavourful though. The counter staff also took my order wrongly (wrong drink and didn’t punch in my additional soup order). We were pressed for time so I didn’t address the wrong orders and just ate whatever was served.
