Tomo Japanese Restaurant

I really loved Tomo Sushi! I was in the area for about a month and ended up going probably five times: at least once a week. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, with quiet folk and classic rock music playing. The chefs always greet you and the waitresses are at your side fast. I loved their plum wine, and always got myself a glass while I was there. If you're sitting with a group, you are offered salted Edamame to begin while you're looking over the menu. I honestly enjoyed every food item I got there: from fried gyoza as an appetizer to the full sushi dinner bento box. The full dinner comes with Miso soup and a Ginger Salad, which I thought the flavour of was mild and sweet, with not an overpowering amount of ginger. All the rolls, sushi, and sashimi that I ordered smelled fresh and never once tasted fishy or stale. All of this wonderful food was at an amazing price, especially for the Tampa area. My family of three dined for under 70$.

Always good here. Tried sushi for the first time at this place when my spouse, who is a local, recommended it after growing up going here with family after school games. While eating here over the year, I found all the appetizers to be great, the miso soup is one of the best, and the sushi is consistently better than those at other sushi places in town. The complimentary edamame is a nice touch and an enjoyable comfort while seated, ordering, and meeting people. The restaurant is intimate, cozy, friendly, and well decorated. Tomo was our special and favorite spot to go to dine in when we were dating and we loved it so much that we decided to have our post-wedding celebration here to share in our happiness over the meal here with our family and friends. It turned out wonderfully, was intimate and special. I wish everyone who works here all the best and highly recommended them. For people who eat chicken and are uncomfortable with fish or sushi in general, their chicken tempura sushi roll is yummy especially with the hint of onion - it's one of my comfort go-tos. The shrimp tempura roll and squid tempura appetizer are safe options too if you want to be a little more adventurous. Try this place out when you can. They are worth it.

Went to Tomo with a friend and my husband, the service was very friendly and the dining area was casual and relaxed. I tried the Johnny roll, the vegetable roll, the sweet potato roll, cucumber roll, and the spicy tuna tempura roll. All of then were very tasty, except the spicy roll, which was not bad, but didn't really deliver on the spiciness, and was a little greasy. I know tempura is fried but I expected a nice crispy crunch that I am used to in tempura, and this did not deliver on that front. I'd definitely go back, I would just probably not pick any of the tempura fried rolls.

I'm from out of town, but when a local friend recommended a nearby place for sushi it was Tomo: what a great call. From the moment we walked in, this place looked like a winner and had everything I look for -- clean, friendly, knowledgeable chefs. My salmon don was made with pieces of pristine pieces of fatty sashimi salmon along with pickled squid and perfect sushi rice. Everyone was happy with the food and service. My only regret is there is no Tomo where I live.

Tomo sushi is by far the best sushi restaurant in Tampa. They have amazing customer service and even better food. Please ask the waiter to recommend you something off the menu. I wanted to try something new and I have a new favorite. If you like something smokey and hot, get the Yellowtail Jalepeño. Absolutely a 10/10. The Sake sampler is also amazziiiiing!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
