Of our six dishes (three nights), appetizers and desserts, some were good, most were very good. It's a four stars for price/food but friendly service (off season) and good cheap house wine make the experience a five star. Interior is very cute - good for an affordable romantic evening.
If you want some delicious casual Italian food then this is the perfect place. Delicious food, good service. You can't go wrong with this place.

I've been returning to lovely Villefranche sur Mer for the past 15 years and yet Le Serre was never on my list of Must Trys. I finally had the opportunity to visit this no-frills eatery and I was quite impressed. The daily menu was a superb three course offering of local fare at a very reasonable price. I thoroughly enjoyed the assiette nicoise and beef stew in red wine sauce with ravioli which was followed by a delicious abricot clafouti. The staff was also efficient and helpful. I will definitely be return to Le Serre!
My wife and I went to Villefranche sur Mer in 2015. We found Le Serra and ended up going there three of the four nights we were there. The food was absolutely delicious - pasta and pizza both incredible. The staff was wonderful and took such good care of us. We hope to plan another trip to this area soon and will definitely be returning to Le Serra.
I found the reviews to be true. The food is very good. It's the best I have had since being here. The staff is very gracious. The atmosphere is cozy. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good food in Villefranche-sur-Mer.
This place is soooo good and very reasonably priced for the area. It's on a cute street just up from the water. Great ambiance and service. Highly recommended!
Le Serre is now our favorite in town. We've been eating here as much as our waistlines can afford. This gem came highly recommended by a local friend and she was right on. It's off the main streets and that was nice. Rue de May is a spectacular little street to photograph in the evening with the soft lights. We split the Mozzarella salad, Hawaii Pizza, 50cl of local red wine, and two wonderful desserts for 33€! There is often a line waiting for a table so come relaxed and happy to wait a bit. Calling ahead for a reservation works, too.
This was our first visit to La Serre and went there solely based on the two previous reviews; we weren't disappointed. We got there around 8pm and only waited 5 minutes to get a table in the courtyard. We had the Kim pizza and cannot recommend it enough! Tons of garlic, pesto, meats including chorizo, olives and artichokes. We highly recommend it! We're definitely going back and next time will try the carbonara, which looked amazing! We enjoyed some water, beer for my hubby, glass of wine for me, the pizza, beef carpaccio and two espressos for €30...great value!

Le Serre is one of my favorite restaurants in Villefranche. My boyfriend and I eat there (whether in-house or take out) probably once a week. Yes, Sylvie and Gilles, the owners, are friends of ours, but I am sure we would love it just as much even they weren't! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, Gilles, Sylvie and the servers are friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. You can choose from a wide variety of pizzas named after US states (weirdly, the veggie pizza is called the "Georgia," not the "California," and the "Hawaii" pizza has not a pineapple in sight ... but, nevertheless, they all taste good), as well as several traditional French dishes. There are also a few large salads and pasta dishes. (I am somewhat obsessed with the pasta carbonara - *so good* - but am trying to branch out.) Anyway, if you are looking for a great meal in a nice but casual environment, check out Le Serre. It is popular, however, and can get a bit crowded, so I would recommend coming early or making a reservation.
