Miss Kims By That Boy Good

I’m not sure where to begin… I came with high hopes. Ordered, half slab plate; mac n cheese/fries/cornbread. Tried cucumber lime mule and catfish strips. Honestly, if I would just gotten a couple of appetizers, I would have been happy. The ribs do not come with any sauce, there is a spicy or mild on the table. There were jalapeños in the Mac n cheese and cornbread, I am not a fan of spicy foods. The ribs were ok but not great. But for $23 you get plenty. I should not have ordered a cocktail as I do not normally drink, was only able to take a few sips. Maybe it was too strong? Not sure. The catfish was good. The best part was the service to be honest. Great customer service. I would give them another try but try something else perhaps, chicken or Brisket?

Finally tried Miss Kim's by That Boy Good, and we can see why this place has such great reviews. Located in downtown Oceanside off Mission right on Coast Hwy, they have a lot of the same menu as the original restaurant That Boy Good (haven't tried yet 🤭.) They're serving up bbq and cajun food, and we're loving their whole eclectic, divey vibe. They have daily happy hour specials like $5 wells and $1 off draft beers, with a nice big selection available. We shared the gumbo & crossroads cup appetizers and a chicken & waffles plate that came with fries. That gumbo is so rich & flavorful, packed with shrimp & sausage on a bed of rice. The crossroads cup is a bowl layered with smoked beans, mac & cheese, pulled pork & coleslaw- pure comfort food! We took the fries from the chicken plate and made our own dirty fries with some of the crossroads cup - TRY THIS 😍 The fried chicken was really good and nicely seasoned too, perfect with the yummy waffles. This is definitely a place we'll be back to.

Amazing experience. I was jonesing for chicken and "Miss Kim" did not disappoint. My fried chicken with slaw, mac&cheese , and Jalapeno corn bread was (and I NEVER say this) all great food. The chicken was moist and fried and the right kinda spices. Their slaw has a nice flavor and not bland like most. The corn bread was the perfect mix of corny-jalapinio goodness. And I will claim that the Mac & cheese is the best I've had in the oside area...seriously...great cheesy/savory flavor. My buddy's were equally impressed with the pulled pork sammys and the fries... nice crispy tasty snacks (no need to ask them to be extra cooked). Thank you X10

Epic! Summer of the best BBQ I've ever had! Super fresh, unique dishes, rivals NOLA Cajun food for sure. Gumbo is insane, fried chicken, waffles, catfish and ribs all amazing, including most unique bloody Mary in the world, spoiler, comes with ribs on top! Great fast service too. Expensive though and busy, touristy. I'll be back for sure!

BBQ, delicious sides and a friendly and authentic atmosphere make this a must go! Ultra tender brisket, moist and flavorful pork, and sweet and savory sausage. It was a home run! The Mac and Cheese is a creamy slice of heaven, comfort food at its finest. The staff and service are on-point lead by owner Miss Kim. A fully stocked long bar is there to imbibe. Bring some friends for great food and a fun atmosphere.

I had heard great things about this place. From Google reviews and locals. However, was pretty disappointed when my husband and I finally stopped in. Don’t get me wrong, the staff were super friendly. And, the atmosphere was nice. Laid back environment that seems great for a drink after work. The food is where our issue was. Just simply unimpressed. My chicken had an odd texture and the breading did not do it for me. The waffle was alright. Dry but still okay. And, the rosemary syrup was just strange. My husband’s pulled pork lacked flavor. I’d say the best thing was the side of fries. If you’re looking for a chill hangout and mediocre food, this is the place to go. Anything more should not be expected.
