We went in this restaurant the last weekend of February for my first Afghan attempt!
We arrived quite late at the restaurant (21.30 while it was supposed to close at 22.00). Nevertheless, the owner warmly welcomed us telling there was no worries.
The food was an amazing mix of spices and flavors, really delicious!
During the dinner, the owner kept socializing making us feel at ease. He made sure that we were taking our time and we were enjoying the food in this calm atmosphere.
I strongly recommend the restaurant.
A nice find in Rouen. A simple and straightforward menu, the Afghan dishes are distinct from Indian or Pakistani: very aromatic and uncomplicated. The food is perfectly cooked; my lamb was full of flavour and meltingly tender. The chutney kicks hard! Great service and cooking are worth every cent of the price: Roughly 22 euros per person with entrée, main and dessert plus 50cl of house wine (which is pretty good).

La Kaboul est une bon restaurant. La menu est simple et sans complications. Le cuisine afghans est distincte de l'indienne et pakistanais. Les viends sont parfai cuisiné ; mon agneau "Kaboul" etáit savoureuse et très tendre, ça fondu en mon bouche ! Le chutney etáit bon, mais très piquant ! Le service était très serviable et amical. Environs € 22 euros par personne, avec entrée, plat, dessert et une carafe de vin du maison ( ça quis assez bon ).

After a week of delicious but repetitive French cuisine during our vacation, we were ready for something, anything, ethnic. Kaboul fit the bill nicely.
The menu was only in French but the owner spoke pretty good English. Together with my limited French, we negotiated an order.
We shared two entrees. The first was a chicken dish in a curry sauce. The other was a vegetarian potato dish with a similar sauce. The sauces were vibrant and tasty, and the chicken and vegetables were cooked well. They came with basmati rice that was also well cooked. The owner also brought us some pepper sauce to go with the meal, which gave it a nice kick. Finally, we ordered a piece of flatbread, which was pretty ordinary.
We also ordered dessert. The baklava was different than middle eastern baklava I've had, mainly because it was much less sweet. It was good, but I think I prefer the sweeter variety. We also got chocolate and vanilla ice cream, which were also lacking in sweetness but good nonetheless.
The nice owner also brought us complimentary juices (passionfruit, we think). He was still nice to us even when I sheepishly admitted that we were from the United States.
EXCELLENT alternative to the traditional french food experience. I was working in Rouen for 5 weeks and found Kaboul to be a welcome oasis of flavor!!! The owners were very kind and the food was superb.

Comme on hésitait sur le choix on a prix un menu dégustation et c’était juste excellent.
Tous les plats étaient délicieux et les portions bien généreuses.
Le proprio était au petit soin; serviable et aimable.

L’accueil et le conseil étaient de très bonne qualité. La culture du propriétaire nous a permis de passer un agréable moment. En ce qui concerne les plats, c’était une première pour nous et c’était exceptionnel ! Tout était excellent avec beaucoup de goûts ! Il y en a pour tous les palais, que vous mangiez relevés ou non.
Une très belle découverte, la cuisine est de qualité, les quantités plus que suffisantes et le service parfaitement réalisé par le maître des lieux.
A la caisse et d’une façon discrète, une référence au « Lion du Panchir » qui nous a beaucoup touchée.
Nous vous invitons à y aller, pour notre part nous y retournerons avec un immense plaisir.
Très bon restaurant avec une cuisine typique et originale. Tout est fait sur place et sur demande, donc du frais.
Un bon endroit pour manger léger avec de la saveur et on trouve des plats végétariens. Le patron et sa femme sont adorables et très gentils.
Découvert grace au passeport gourmand, nous sommes ravis. Très bonne cuisine et patron très agréable :)
