Nous avons passé un formidable moment au restaurant l Isoletta à l occasion d un déjeuner en famille. In Saint Tropez it’s easy to be distracted by unnecessary glamour. Luckily we decided to stay at Hotel La Bastide Saint Tropez which houses a restaurant recognized by the Michelin Guide, L’Isoletta. Backed by an Italian chef with French skills; Francesco Ruggeri, and run by Maitre D’ Supreme: Edouard Boutin. Edouard diligently coursed us through multiple meals, suggesting eclectic wines I couldn’t possibly access in the USA. All the while making aperitifs for us, other guests, and oh yeah, running the relatively small but insanely beautiful restaurant. L’Isoletta is a study in hotel dining. It’s distinctly separate from the hotel yet flows superbly from the lobby into the pool area. The menu is small but varied and has a little something for everyone; surely showcasing the local French ingredients as well as the chefs Italian background. Fish du jour, local vegetables, a superb risotto and a Gorgonzola gnocchi that made me cry from happiness. After a long day in the hot sun, retreat to this paradise, recognized by Relais + Chateau and well worth your visit. Also you may want to try out Edouards special barrel aged rum cocktail. A quick note: I recognize some bad reviews above; but can confirm not only was the restaurant run smoothly, but the chef made the rounds on multiple occasions checking to see that everyone was satisfied (and they were by all accounts). Veggies were perfect, daily specials were fresh and the wine pairings were not only magnificent but also reasonably priced considering the area. Merci Edouard + Francesco + L’equipe
