On holiday to a ski station in Sainte Foy we stop here every time we are in the region.
A busy bar full of friendly locals who are inviting to say the least and offering rooms for overnight stays if your lucky enough to get one as very popular.
There are I think three different restaurants serving a range from fine dining to a Steak and local speciality dishes to pizza and all done with charisma and flair which is standard for the French but this place pushes the bar even higher.
Of course the French serve dishes that don't appeal to everyone but at Le Monal every one can be catered for. We are in a private dining room within the confines of the wine store seated around the many bins of wine on display where cured hams hung alongside us and watched as the chefs sliced away. The local speciality meat is a Cote De Bouef a rib steak for two cooked in an indoor barbecue basically the fireplace but it was heaven, no complaints here nor from anyone who chipped in about the evenings spent there when out skiing or during the Tour de France which sometimes proceeds up this incredible steep mountain road. Rather then than me !!
Wonderful hotel and bar , fabulous food, excellent service, even when there was a power cut in the village the food was delicious and the atmosphere even better than ever with candles everywhere.
Hotel cosy.
