After traveling through France for almost 15 days and eating dairy rich (and relatively bland meals to what we're accustomed back home), we were craving spicy and lean fare. After trying an Asian restaurant or two which were decent but very "Francisé" in their treatment of Asian food, we gave up all hope but when we saw the "Lao" in the restaurant name while walking through the streets of Nice, we thought of giving this place a shot too.
Ordered a Chicken soup with lemon grass, a Ban Xeo crêpe and a curry chicken. The soup arrived and Hail Mary Queen of Scots! It was dynamite. Hit the Chili-head spot dead centre.
The Ban Xeo crêpe was amazing as well. Had all the goodness of the Asian crêpe. Light, flavor packed and crispy on the outside.
Curry chicken tasted like a very spicy version of a thai yellow curry. We were sold on this place that we came back for more the next day. Ordered a Som Tum and a Chicken with Crispy Noodles the next day for lunch.
Highly recommend this place if you're craving something very traditionally Vietnamese or Lao while in Nice. The restaurant is run by Vietnamese people but they do justice to Lao food as well.
Nice has some surprisingly good Asian establishments. There is only so much baguettes, pasta and pastries one can eat. The owner was pretty hospitable and the food was on time. The pho, dumplings and spring rolls were the usual variety. Definitely hits the spot when you are craving Asian food.
Really nice (pun intended) place to go for some fresh Viet food! Pretty good prices except get two dishes to be filled up. And top Banh Cuon is always hard to find but I'd have yours anyday, Lao Viet. That with some nice Heo Quay or Pho and happy days!
5 stars for taste, but -1 star for price. I got the salt/pepper shrimp and singapore style noodle soup. Both of which were very tasty, but the portions were on the smallish side. I came back the next day and got a deep fried pork dish (pork belly) that was great. Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside. I also got the Tom Yum Kuhn which had a really nice, deep, rich fish stock. If only the portions were 25% bigger, I'd have given Lao Viet more than 5 stars.
Si je ne devais retenir qu’une seule cantine asiatique sur Nice. Sans aucune hésitation Lao Viet serait l’élu. Rapport qualité/prix nickel. Plats au top. Mention spéciale pour leur porc croustillant, les banh cuon et le pho!
C'est le serveur le plus calamiteux que j'ai pu croiser à Nice. Heureusement que certains plats sont délicieux par contre la salade de riz craquant trop peu en quantité plus de salade verte que de riz.

Plats authentiques, goûts caractéristiques, d'origine.
Un excellent restaurant Vietamien dans le quartier Notre Dame de Nice. Les plats sont bons et authentiques. On est loin ici de la cuisine aseptisée des fast food asiatiques de plus en plus nombreux dans les centres villes et périphéries de grands ville française. Les soupes Pho ont notre faveur ainsi que que les marmites.
Un espace très convivial ou le seul regret c est au moment de quitter le restaurant.
Les plats proposés sont juste excellents et les prix pas élevés.
En résumé, excellente ambiance et excellente nourriture...

Restaurant asiatique - vietnamien très authentique. La nourriture est très bonne et plus que suffisante. Malheureusement, le restaurant est très petit, il faut donc avoir de la chance pour avoir une table libre.
Super vraie cuisine familiale asiatique.
Mes plats préférés en plus de la crêpe saigonaise, les nems, le phô, les pâtes sautées, la salade de papaye.
Ne vous fier pas au décor, ici l’important est ce qu’il y a dans l’assiette.
Fermer les yeux et vous êtes à Saigon …
