A bientot!

Hey you all customers of Anticafé
Here’s a story for you all be very attentive and think twice before going to this place:
My name is Adriana, I’m a Brazilian writer and I was doing my dossier to enter a master at a University in Paris.
It was last Thursday, when I decided to go to Anticafé, because I thought that this place would be a safe environment for me to work, while eating a little and having some coffee.
I was there working (at 4pm), and I left my table to go pick up something to eat. In this meanwhile someone entered the place and stole everything I had. Everything. When I went back to my table it was empty.
I lost my computer, I lost my cell phone. I lost my documents, my dossier to enter the university, my new texts, and that was everything I had here in France. Shocked as I was and absolutely not able even to move, I was helped by such a sweet worker called Louise. She and the other girls working there helped me taking me to the police.
But that was all. From the moment I left Anticafé Louvre to go the police no one else helped me anymore at this place. The day after I went back to Anticafé, thinking that it was not possible that having cameras inside, being a closed place where they ENCOURAGE you to move, go eat, network etc etc, they couldn’t help me getting back a least part of all my loss. They should have an insurance, something to help me getting back all my things.
I tried to talk to the director of the place, and from the moment she saw me and was informed of who I was, she said “I have nothing to offer you, Désolée”. I said in tears that I needed help, I had lost everything I had. She insisted in saying she couldn’t do anything for me and tried to compare this place with other conventional coffees saying that we should never leave our things to go eat.
There’s no sign in this coffee telling people to pay attention, to always take our computer with us to go eat for not being robbed. Actually it’s the opposite: they ENCOURAGE you to move INSIDE. WE PAY HOURLY TO BE SAFE.
She, not being able even to ask if I was ok, gave me then the e-mail of another director that I thought maybe could be fairer and more professional, and for my surprise, he told me exactly the same thing, not caring even for one second for the fact I lost EVERYTHING I had and even had to deal with emotional issues the day before. But instead, he offered me one month of free wifi (?) at this place. How could I use the wifi not having a computer and a cell phone anymore?
I asked him please to help me recovering part of my loss, it was a lot for me, and he insisted that he was “désolé” but couldn’t do anything and it was absolutely not his responsibility.
So basically I lost everything I had even paying HOURLY to be SAFE, and NO ONE helped me even offering an old computer for me to restart my dossier for the university (I lost the deadline which was today, by the way), a way for me to speak with my family and friends, NOTHING.
So what I ask you guys is: if you can choose another place to go, directed by correct and professional people, where they treat students and workers that lost everything in a more kind and helpful way, do that for me.
There are many nice places to go work in Paris, like HUBSY for example, where they are so kind and welcoming. Choose any other place but this one, where someone took everything I had from me and what the direction offered me to “help” was a free wifi (that I can actually have going to Starbucks if I want). Oh, and the wifi offer was just for one month, not more than that!
If you can, dear worker, student, freelancer, artist, writer, entrepreneur, do that for me: just don’t go there, choose any another place. They don’t deserve your money if they can’t deal properly and professionally in a very serious and hard situation as it is being for me now after losing everything I had, the university deadline, my texts, documents and all the rest (approximately 2 thousand euros)
With all my consideration for you and hope that this world can be a better one with better people that help each other,
Adriana
